Local Celebrity
A very popular and important person— such as a famous actor, a widely-regarded performing troupe, or (if their prestige rating is high enough in the region) one or more of the adventurers —is in the immediate vicinity, causing a sudden rush of people vying to meet or see them.
Crush of the Crowd. The sheer number of shouting people pressed in together makes it difficult to move, hear, or focus. The area in the immediate vicinity becomes difficult terrain and all attempts to verbally communicate are made at disadvantage. Additionally, spells that have a duration of concentration require a concentration check each round to maintain.
A group check is required to navigate the throng. Adventurers can choose from Intimidation or Persuasion to force the crowd to part or Acrobatics or Athletics to physically ensure the group stays together.
POTENTIAL OUTCOMES
Critical Failure. The crowd is too much for anyone to handle. Adventurers who critically fail are pulled away from their companions and lost until the crowd finally disperses 6 (2d4 + 2) hours later.
Failure. The adventurers are trapped by the crowd for 2 (1d4) hours. If the party is the source of the crowd’s excitement, this time is spent signing autographs.
Success. The crowd moves aside for the party, allowing them through without a fuss.
Critical Success. The local celebrity (or a wealthy fan, if the celebrity is a member of the party) takes an interest in the adventurers, granting them an audience and potentially opening other social doors if the audience goes well.
