Shalehold, like many cities, is built on top of a more ancient settlement, sealing its structures away and turning it into a vast honeycomb of an underground. While many find these secret pathways an invaluable shortcut, one should never underestimate the dangers.

Lightless. The nature of the underground makes it unnervingly pitch black. Creatures without darkvision make a Wisdom saving throw or become rattled for the duration of their time in the underground.

Possible Solutions

Safely navigating the underground requires a group Survival check to avoid becoming lost or wandering into one of the area’s dangers.

Critical Failure. The unwary adventurers blunder into a fetid pool in the dark. Each must make a Constitution saving throw or become infected by sewer plague . In addition, each adventurer loses 4 (1d4 + 2) Supply to spoilage.

Failure. The adventures disturb the rest of 2 giant bats or giant centipedes (or other appropriate encounter of CR 1/2 or less), which attack. Each also loses 2 (1d4) Supply in the fray.

Success. The adventurers make good time through the underground streets, halving their travel time.

Critical Success. As a Success, but the adventurers find a long-forgotten cache. Roll on the Boons and Discoveries table.
