ACTIONS

Multiattack. The Kanos spawn makes two attacks with its claws.

Claw. Melee Weapon Attack: +5 to hit, reach 5 ft., one target. Hit: 8 (1d10 + 3) slashing damage. If the target is a Medium or smaller creature, it makes a DC 13 Strength saving throw , falling prone on a failure.

Icy Breath (Recharge 6). As an action, the spawn releases an icy blast of frigid air in a 20 foot cone. All creatures in the area must make a DC 14 Constitution saving throw , taking 10 (2d6 + 3) cold damage and becoming restrained by a layer of ice on a failure. On a success, the creature takes half damage and is not restrained. Creatures remain restrained for 1 minute or until they spend an action to free themselves.

Until the start of its next turn the area is lightly obscured and the spawn can use a bonus action to attempt to hide, making its Stealth check with advantage .

Description

Appearing as terrifying stone reptiles, these creatures come from the darkest legends of the dwarves, where they are said to be a gift from the demon Kanos to his faithful servants in their struggle against the devil-worshiping Kingdom of Zustramet to the south. Some myths also claim that they consume the souls of their victims. Scaling walls effortlessly and moving with barely a sound, a Kanos spawn’s frosty breath serves to shroud them in mist until they strike with a jet of flesh-freezing breath.

Monster Type Description

Fiends are evil-aligned creatures from Hell, the Abyss, and other cursed realms. Most fiends are demons and devils, each of which have their own subtypes and hierarchies. Some fiends, such as hell hounds , are neither demons nor devils.
