Area
(1 day)

Deep in the jungle, light itself barely permeates from above to the forest floor. No true light makes it down this low, and navigating such a strange place can feel surreal.

Dense Canopy. The trees, vines, and foliage here are exceptionally thick. Adventurers using a fly speed treat this area as difficult terrain .

Not Light, Not Dark. The forest is a place of shifting illumination. Perception checks here are made with disadvantage .

Possible Solutions

A group Survival check is necessary to make it through this area safely.

Critical Failure. Between the oppressive heat and the strange way the light shifts, the party is left exhausted and unnerved. Each adventurer suffers either one level of fatigue or one level of strife (determined by their actions and the Narrator) and is exposed to sight rot (see Chapter 6: Maladies in Trials & Treasure).

Failure. The adventurers lose 6 (2d4+1) Supply due to insects and damp.

Success. The adventurers are able to journey through the area at a slow pace and avoid any mishaps.

Critical Success. The adventurers stumble across the remains of a less-skilled—or simply less lucky—group of adventurers and find something interesting. Roll on the Boons and Discoveries table.
