Diplomat

It doesn’t matter how far apart the worlds are or how many peoples live in the cosmos, communication is still key when it comes to peaceful coexistence. As such, individuals prepared to engage with outsiders are always well-valued. As a diplomat, you are a representative of a world, company or culture to the stars beyond. You act to present the ways of your people in a positive light and further their interests, and learn about the ways of other people either as a form of knowing your enemy or as a means of achieving empathy.

Why did you decide to deal with people in a sensible and effective way? Why did you choose words as your main weapon? What kind of lines did you swear not to cross? What kind of lines have you already crossed?

Feature:
Diplomatic Language

Even if you don’t know a creature’s language, if you can listen to their speech (or engage with their communicatory means, if it’s not a speechbased language) for one hour you can make out enough of their language to understand simple meaning. You can’t grasp elaborate ideas, but you can get the gist of what they’re saying. Your own communication is much more limited-basically “yes” and “no”, adjusted for tone.

Adventures and Advancement

As you learn about more cultures and travel across space, your name becomes known. Your growing fame (or infamy) in diplomatic circles causes you to be invited for social events such as concerts, birthday dinners and art exhibits. Certain planets might want to hire you as an attaché for special jobs or even get you as an official diplomatic representative.
